Aan – I Don’t Need Love

I love how I can throw the genre of experimental pop onto any type of music that I’m having a hard time describing. Experimental pop has no real format to classify it as such, it just throws together a huge variety of styles. Portland based band, Aan, is perfect for having the experimental pop label given to them. The fuse together so many genres, I can’t even point out half of them. Sure I could be lazy and say that they do a modern day, indie version of blues rock, but there’s so much more here. I Don’t Need Love, the first single off of Aan’s upcoming album, Amor Ad Nauseum, has hints of garage, psychedelia, folk, and chamber pop. It’s really just a great combination of genres to listen to. I’m looking forward to hearing how the rest of Amor Ad Nauseum turns out. Look for it sometime this fall.
