Birds & Batteries – The Golden Age of Dreams

Birds & Batteries new single, The Golden Age of Dreams, begins as if a scene of a barren wasteland is being set. Simple synths set the backdrop to a seemingly wide open space, covered with reassuring lyrics of a promising future. Slowly, the song builds until it becomes one grand piece of work that really puts you in the mood to accomplish something meaningful. The more times that I listened to The Golden Age of Dreams, the more ’80s it began to sound. I imagined hearing this at the end of some sort of victorious movie soundtrack. Something along the lines of The Last Starfighter or The Neverending Story maybe. At the very least, a movie that ends with the classic, freeze frame, jump in the air. Bottom line is, if you’re a fan of M83’s style, then Birds & Batteries is your new favorite band. The Golden Age of Dreams will be found on the Birds & Batteries’ debut album, Stray Light, out on August 7th.
