Ok. So it’s 3:30 in the morning right now, and I was on my way to bed when this late night treat caught my eye. Sleep is going to have to wait a few more minutes. I was already a fan of Strangers, but they’ve now got me hooked. Everyone and their brother knows Haddaway’s ’90s ultra hit, What Is Love, so I can imagine it must be a pretty lofty feat to give this song a fresh sound. Stripping away the signature Eurodance sound of the original, Strangers has opted to turn What Is Love into a moody piece of synth pop. It’s an entirely new song. If it weren’t for the repetitive chorus that has forever been seared into my brain, you could have fooled me to believe that this was an original track. Fun fact: I was once challenged to listen to What Is Love for 30 times in a row. I beat that challenge.
